Our Story

BlackBrush started after I relocated to Midland, Texas to be closer to the opportunity and experience the good ol’ west had to offer. I spent over a year looking for a home that met my basic needs, was functional, was within my budget, and was tastefully designed. After touring multiple homes and meeting with just about every builder in town, I realized there was not a company that had the vision and ability to build the home I wanted. I wanted a simple, modern home with muted colors and a flexible design that I could easily resale. Instead, I came across homes with poorly coordinated paint colors and poorly thought out floorplans that made me feel down and enclosed. To make things worse, the home next door was always nearly identical, which would make resale difficult. I wanted a home that was uplifting, open, and filled with natural light.

Instead of buying an overpriced, cookie-cutter home, I worked with contractors to design and build my first home. I enjoyed the process of building my own home so much that I wanted to relive it all over again. I then partnered with the most aspirational and talented contractors, designers, and architects to start BlackBrush. We built our first home to sale in 2017, and it sold within three hours of listing. Since then, we have not stopped building homes and spaces that inspire and empower our clients.

Our network of clients has grown, and so has our network of partnerships. We work with designers in Midland, Dallas, Austin, Miami, New York, and even Italy! We have a vendor in Italy who helped us design a home to custom-fit a line of Italian furniture. Our homes reflect the diversity of talent we harness, and the diversity of taste of our clients.

Our homes are inspired by the people and world around us. We build beautiful, high quality spaces that are designed for you. Homes are not only a roof over our head, they are roofs that house our dreams and families, and they bring us closer to the lives we wish to have.
